And the bad quality ever since they started packing iPod's with the "slim" version. I like my Sister's cable better, her's has the buttons on the side with the better quality... :(
...I have that cable with my 60Gb iPod photo and it won't work on my iPod Touch...made the mistake of brining it with me on a trip and got stuck with out my iPT...

Holding down Control while pressing and releasing reset then releasing Control (called "doing a Ctrl-Reset") will send you into Applesoft without having to boot a disk.

I thought the same thing after i used my Mac exclusively for about a month or two then jumping back to Windows to do various things. Most of the time I wondered why it took me so long to minimize everything so i could see the desktop (I have it set now where I can move the mouse to he top right corner and everything flies away) and also why... well I'm just doing things at a slower rate in general.
I'm not talking about things that particularly need a lot of CPU and processing power to do , just things like opening Chrome then opening two folders takes a lot longer to do on a Windows computer compared to a Mac.

If you shunt the data- and the data+ wires (usually white and green) it should charge. At least I've done that to an old sony ericsson charger and soldered an usb plug and it works.

Boot from the install CD and then choose Utilities menu > Startup Disk. Does the hard drive show up in there?
Also, in your original post you mentioned that it didn't ask for CD 2. That's normal; it'll ask for it after successfully booting from the hard drive.
Thank you for the reply I have booted from the install disk and went threw the whole process. The Hard drive has be erased but when it comes time to install the OS I get the Error message telling me to restart computer. I thought it could have been a damage disks but when I first tried this it installed all the way threw but the I got the flashing "?" folder. So I'm going to do the whole process over again and take notes on everything I am doing, also will take pictures of what I am doing as well maybe will be more helpful if I am over looking something.
I know I have a Fossil of a laptop and it worked just fine before I had to mess with it. I just wanted to reformat and start fresh so I would learn how everything works because I'm a big PC person and never had a Mac before. Well I am learning and learned one thing if it's not broke don't mess with it :/ But I will give it another shot in a little while and see what the out come is.
Thank you all for the advice I really appreciate it :)
kind regards
Mike

Was wondering if there was a program that was able to throw it over to AE attached speakers. Similar to what airplay does with itunes, but since the radio I like to listen doesn't go through itunes, have to plug it it to the audio jack.
Any options out there?
Thanks!I am not positive I understand your question. But Airfoil will send most (if not all) audio from your Mac to an AE. It does not need iTunes to work.

im quite suprised at the battery life. when mine arrived i charged it for an hour, well i say charge more like filling it. i took it off charge and played around with it, and its still going 2 days later (i use it at least 3 hours a day), the battery is 25% full... i still need to do a full charge but the battery life is amazing.
i was messing around on the baby before trying to kill the battery (playing Music Quiz amongst others) but it was having none of it... didnt even drop a pixel.
the 18(apple)-26(ipod lounge) hour battery life is completely feasable.

As you know Xcode 4 does not support IB plugins. My question is how do I use the BGHUDAppKit without using an IB plugin? Thanks

I edited the main.cf file and replace the "myhostname" with server.$mydomain and then everything started working. The smtp is responding now on both 25 and 587 and I can send and receive mail perfectly.
I want to thank everyone here who pointed me in the right direction. Without your help I could not have fixed this problem.
many thanks!

Very tempting...
Is it scratched up or has the case protected it? If you'd have to rate it 1-10, 10 being the best... where would you put your iPhone?

My early 2008 Macbook Pro just died after two and a half years. When I brought it into the Apple Store, they said my logic board had failed and wasn't my nVidia 8600GT. $1,100 to replace. I said no thanks.
I'll be needing a laptop this Sept for school and the new Macbook Pros look awesome. Is there anything about them I should be afraid of?? I don't want it to break down.
I guess I'll continue to buy AppleCare even though I've only had to use it a handful of times. I'd rather pay 10 to 15 percent up front than get hit with a shocking bill later.
If you prefer to "take your chances", your luck has actually been pretty good. You made it past the expiration of normal AppleCare before hitting a huge repair issue.
Do you have your data backed up? If not, make sure you pull the hard drive and pop it in a usb hdd enclosure so you can get your stuff off since the logic board died your stuff is probably still there. The nice part is you get to keep using it as an external drive after you get your new system up and running.

I'm not a real big fan of Christmas albums, but I do have a few I like.
I love the Merry Axemas series (vol 1 and 2). Volume 1 is the best, but 2 is ok. It has people like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Joe Perry, and others playing the old favorites on guitar.

I also like a couple of the TSO albums. When I want something more laid back, I go for the Charlie Brown Christmas or any of the Elvis albums.

Good point. Another thing to consider - they're pretty loud. Most dorky people like us don't care, but perhaps the OP has a significant other that might. ;)

How come Macs don't have the stickers?
I don't really care why Macs don't have them, I'm just glad they don't.

From a software side, even MacWrite 1 (which came with the original Macintosh in 1984,) runs just fine through "Classic" mode on Mac OS X 10.4 on a Power Macintosh G5.
The harder part is the hardware aspect. I assume, based on your description, that this software controls something via a serial cable. If so, while it SHOULD work fine on any Mac with a built-in serial port, there is a chance that it may not.

Isn't the eMate smaller in size than a Macbook? I doubt the screen would fit.
its possible to cut out more screen real estate to make something bigger fit...
