The torrented MPEG-4 or H264 saved movies of the Keynotes that I have seen were captured using
screenshot-apps such as Snapz Pro. They usually weigh-in at approx. 160 MB for 90 minutes.

    It usually takes a couple days for these to appear on Bit Torrent networks;
presumably the person doing the recording must wait for the stream traffic to
die down enough to get a clean, uninterrupted stream to work with.

At least that's my understanding of it...

In case you're answering to my previous post, I meant torrent tech directly in quicktime so that you don't connect just to Apple but also to everyone else watching the same movie at the same time. I used a program like that to watch the World Cup Games (streamed TV signal using torrent technology) and even for watching the finale the performance was amazing, we even watched it ona beamer!

What? Its by far one of the biggest games of the year in the games industry regardless of platform. PC news sites are covering it too, as would any platform specific news site when the most important games are being released.

    Crazy.

    And your point is? :D

People are still gonna complain unfortunately:( Its all about priorities. I for one am a huge Valve fan period(hence my interest in the thread)...that said, Im not super enthusiastic about MR threads on "Facetime Updates"/etc. People just care about different things...I dont think thats crazy;) Stay well friend!

I would get one in like 2 years after it has gone through revisions and everyone else has had problems with it. Sure I'll want one. But I'm happy for now since I have the kewlest phone out - Nokia 8801!

I agree with that sentiment, if only because I'm on contract with my phone for another year and a half. By that time, we'll know how viable the phone and service is, and whether it's actually worth it (let alone it's a reality or not :) .)

I have a feeling Leopard will blow everyone away with all the cool features. But most of all everyone is forgeting that it will be the first true 64bit OS. It will unlease the potential many only dreamed of in applications.

Um... no. Everything except for the first sentence is just wrong, and the first sentence is possibly doubtful.

What? Err No I don't think he is!

Anyway I really wanted John Hodgman (PC) to take over the role of Mac - because he's switched!:)

it did. people stopped freaking out, and nobody's complained since... total non issue.

I think that's false. I also think that the antenna issue is brought up every time Apple news hits the press in relation to iPhone stories, stock prices, etc.

One of the first things people sought to find out when the Verizon iPhone was released was whether or not it had an antenna issue.

    Damage done.

When the new iPhone is released - the issue will rear its ugly head again. If it's "solved" people will say that Apple fixed this "non issue". If it's not fixed, Consumer reports will once again not recommend the phone and there will be a slew of articles no doubt.

    So I disagree.

"Open" is useless and rather laughable when a closed, controlled platform continues to set the bar year after year.

And yet the Android is surging year after year, leaving the iPhone stagnant at 23%.

Also, if you go by the history of humanity, a closed model is doomed to fail no matter what the current status is. Humans, by nature, can't remain closed for a long time.

Macs are now essentially well-thought-out PCs so hardware interaction will become less and less of an issue in the future. As long as Apple maintains sufficient market share to entice mainstream product manufacturers to write drivers, I see nothing wrong in being the top 5%. :D

what i'd like to know, even though someone would have to break the NDA further, is if the Finder has the same 10.4.6 string in its "get info" information. I think that another seed with the same build of Finder means that something big must be in the works.

and yes, posting screenshots of iCal would be great for all but it is strictly against the NDA to even post that a new build has been distributed.

December's actually later than I was expecting. I was fully expecting a big release for the iPod's 5th birthday (later this month).

I wonder if someone like me could use it?

If you have an Apple store near by, go in and play with it after it is released.

As much as this 'looks like' iMovie Pro, it is high end software which requires a degree of commitment. In other words, a learning curve you have to buy into.

I'm also with the camp that places part of the blame on her! She is the one who chose to throw herself on the hood of a moving car! Stupid with a capital S!!Do you have any evidence that the car was moving? Much more likely that she jumped on to prevent it moving. In these circumstances, the moment the husband started moving forward, he was potentially committing a crime, and if he did not stop, she had little option but to cling on: jumping off the hood of a speeding minivan is highly likely to result in death or serious injury.

Sosumi99 may be a little over the top here, but is staggers my mind to think any doesn't believe this was out of line nd wrong for Mr. Beeks to say. Clearly when Steve Jobs has a "big announcement" it generates lots of hype and interest - not only in the iPod but for Apple in general. Mr. Beeks has tried to pre-empt Apples splash by pointing it to Lions Gate insted.

No one here "knows" what will happen this year with iPod/iTunes. If they "do", they must know someone who is violating a NDA. We highty suspect and believe what ill happen before the end of this year.

Maybe your mommy will teach you good business and ethics practice.

I don't really think it matters. Lion's Gate does not have the same kinds of "brand recognition" concerns that a company like Apple must address by drawing attention and publicity.

The other thing is that like others have said, this has not been a secret. Everyone knows the movie industry would eventually have to jump on the bandwagon, and this is nothing more than someone finally acknowledging the inevitible.

It isn't like the guy told us the details for the new iPod or something.

that looks like a laptop, and indeed this seems to be better suited for a laptop not an Ipod

for those who call me a constant naysayer,
I LOVE THIS IDEA. its sure more elegant than this

So I'd have to have an external CD drive to play all my games, install my software, go through my backups and import my new music into iTunes?

Personally, I seldom use my CD-DVD drive, so, a portable USB drive to keep in my backpack would be fine. What I would really like is two drive bays, one for SSD and one for a high-capacity HDD.

    This.

It would make more sense (to me).

Oh Gosh no. Unless Apple kept their (Netflix') pricing methodology...sorry but 99 cents for ONE TV show rental is ludicrous in comparison to Netflix'

It could last up till 7pm!? That's 4am AEST! ARGH!! If there's one thing this Ashes series has done, it's exposed cricket lovers at work. They are the red-eyed, bumbling fools. :)

I only wish I'd watched the first couple of tests!

I'm still amazed that we're at the point where we can measure Apple on the 'mobile phone' scale and not just the 'smartphone' scale.
