Hi all,
The WA state chapter will meet on Oct 31st from 6:30 - 7:30 PM at the Fairwood Library in Renton, WA. Here are directions to the library: http://www.kcls.org/fairwood/directions.cfm. We will meet in Meeting Room A.

If you are running out of time to save Candian PR under 3 years out of country stay rule, then only we have to think this canda stay.
If you can stay here and still save candian PR for this 1.5 years, just get into the system and try out here in US. That is the best bet rather than not trying at all.
Who knows you may get Labor/I140 in this 1.5 years and may get everything well.
DOL procedures - We really do not know how serious that **Supervised Recruit** is, unless it is experienced by people.

They've just posted a $T1.2 deficit and that is pre-Obama infrastructure program. They may have to deflate the dollar in order to pay it off as the countries that normally buy US treasuries are experiencing their own crunches. The financial bailout has the affect of being a huge wealth transfer from the middle class to the wealthy where there already is growing income inequality. Plus the Iraq war costs muchos dineros. In summary, I am bearish about the US economy, dollar, and future prospects over the next decades. Some economists say that the Bush (Jr.) years cost the economy (If I remember correctly) around T$9. A staggering amount.

Canada has been posting government surpluses provincially and federally in the last decade or so, so Canada is prepared for what will likely be a mild recession. (The belief is that they'll be out of recession 2nd half 2009) Plus the banking system was not allowed to go leverage wonky like down here. So there is no big bailout, and no big financial issues. There are some credit issues but I believe that they are spillover from the US. Canada has buttressed the banks but to place them on an even keel with bailed out US banks. Scotia bank, for example, has rejected the efforts saying they're not needed.
Wages are lower and taxes are higher but if you have a family it may be beneficial because daycare and other child related expenses are subsidized. I think it is 9 or 12 months paid maternity leave, for example.
Job market is pretty tough. Though there is likely more unemployment now in the US due to differences of measurement.

Did they issue your EAD from the time the previous one expired or from the current date. If current date, you'd have lost about 3 months or validity.
Some people I know got EADs from the next day following the expiration of their current EAD. I however got from approval date. Its all so inconsistent.

Hi,
Get yourself a good lawyer. As far as I know Up to 180 days of out of status can be managed. As your case is in removal proceedings, it may further complicate your situation.
Even if you get an Advance Parole, do not use it. Your reentry will have issue. You may send a private message.

I lost my passport too and panicked too much. It took a month to get the duplicate passport, you need to provide the police complaint details while applying to the duplicate passport.

It takes 1 or 2 days depending on the rush.
Can people share their experience with same day counter passport collection from the vfs courier center at Chennai.
Reason I ask is, I and my wife have a 9AM appointment on 14th August. And Aug 15th being a holiday on account of India's Independence Day. Since we have to be in US on the 16th August to file for I485, getting the visa on the 16th would be too late. Therefore, it's critical that we collect the passport the same day.
Is anyone else in a similar situation? Should I inform the consular of our same night travel plans or is that ill-advised?

Mailroom indeed has to check all the documents(after cutting envelope from 3 sides, per operating manual). if clerk is not able to findout our checks then we are out of luck. wait for PD has to be current and refile.

If you have the native font installed on your system, you can type in native alphabet on the DS-160. I did this on a Mac and it was pretty straightforward. Simply choose the Devanagari-QWERTY font and type the name like you would in English and it did a good job. Another option is to copy-paste from a website that has your name in native alphabet. Wikipedia is your friend if you decide to do that.

I'm in the same hole. Oct'2003 is my PD EB2I. had interview 3 months back. Was waiting so eagerly for this day. no update on my case. While I see Dec'2004 cases getting approved. Why can't USCIS do some organization and issue green card purely by priority dates rather than at the mercy of the officer. Why should they make lives of poor immigrants and green card applicants as miserable and touch as possible? Can't do anything more than feeling bad. :-(

Thank you very much. do you know suppose if we go for stamping our visa and for some reason they reject it, can we still enter USA? I am just trying to evaluate different options and the risks in each of them so that we can choose the best that works for us....
What you are talking about is an automatic visa revalidation. You can re-enter the US from Canada on an expired visa if you have a valid I-94 and h1 extension. However, if you visa stamping is denied for any reason while being in Canada, you will NOT be able to re-enter anymore. Usually, the consular officer takes away your I94 or makes a note that a visa was not issued. At that point, you need a valid, unexpired visa to re-enter the US, or you have to go to your home country for visa stamping.

Like it or not, AR11 is mandatory and it could even lead to deportation for violating the AR11 requirements. A fear of a RFE should not be the factor to stop filing AR11. File it and be safe.
485 RFEs are not very complicated from what I have seen unless you have something wrong with your filing, you have nothing to be afraid of.
